looks philosophical

This is what a philosopher looks like.
I’m Heidi Howkins Lockwood, an associate professor of philosophy at Southern Connecticut State University. I’m a relatively recent PhD (2009, Yale), and returned to philosophy after spending a decade or so as a high-altitude mountaineer with support from National Geographic. This is a photo from the summit of Gasherbrum II (8035m). I don’t climb 8,000-meter peaks any more, but I’ve been doing some ultrarunning. My current research is on some puzzles which lie at the juncture of modal logic, metaphysics, and epistemology. I also spend a lot of time with my three daughters, aged 19 (an undergrad at Harvard), 8, and 1.
