looks philosophical

This is what a philosopher looks like.
I’m Catarina Dutilh Novaes; I’m Brazilian, but I have been living in the Netherlands for over 10 years. I am an assistant professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Groningen, working predominantly on the philosophy and history of logic, but with strong interests in all kinds of empirically-informed approaches to cognition. I truly love everything about my job as a philosopher: thinking, reading, writing, talking, lecturing philosophy. But besides philosophy, plenty of other things make me happy: my family, my friends, music, dancing, running, snorkeling. I chose this picture, where I am about to go snorkeling with my older daughter for the first time, because it was a supremely happy moment for me: I was about to let her discover one of my passions. (By the way, some of my best philosophical ideas came to me while snorkeling!)
